No Longer Alone

Source: http://herwords-unspoken.tumblr.com/

Battered and bruised
from desertion, betrayal—
feigning courage
under a tattered veil.
Yet the Savior sees with
compassionate eyes;
His enduring strength
pursues wearied tries.

Precious one, you may
have been forsaken,
but the God of love,
your broken heart, He’s taken.
You are not unwanted—
He calls you His own.
And this is His promise:
you’re no longer alone.

Faith, Hope, Love

Source: http://herwords-unspoken.tumblr.com/

Faith—
a shield against all evil come,
the surrender of God’s will be done
that fears not hinder what He has won.

Hope—
the anchor for this troubled soul,
the reason that my strength be whole
as wondrous plans for me unfold.

Love—
a wellspring for this longing heart,
the binds that keep me from falling apart
as His great affections in me impart.

All these I claimed when it came to be
that the Giver of Life breathed into me.

Shallow Waters

Source: http://herwords-unspoken.tumblr.com/

I say I trust You,
but here I am
with my feet firmly rooted
in shallow waters,
tame enough to kiss the worries
lapping at my heels
away to darker depths.
Yet there’s a calling on the sea,
a voice through the swell saying,
“Come forth, My child,
come here to Me.
I will not let you drown;
My strength is sure for you.”
But I cannot see above the waves
that arise and swallow my view;
my heart tells me it’s safe here
but my spirit’s reaching out for You.
You whisper “just trust Me”
so I can tread into the deep,
where You are waiting
with unseen treasures in Your keep.
You promise there are better things in store,
but how can I immerse in glory
when I cannot bear to leave the shore?

You Call Me

Source: http://herwords-unspoken.tumblr.com/

You call me beautiful
when all I see
is homely features
and awkward frame
mirrored through
the glass at me.

You call me beloved
when the word
worthless
rattles through
my quaking chest,
and I cannot put
the panic to rest.

You call me brave
when all I know is fear
tearing at my legs
and pulling me
from faith,
when anxiety mars
my every thought
and hate’s become
my weight.

You call me strong
when I give in to
drowning in tidal waves
because I’m too weak
to swim to shore,
when the world has
become too much
and I cannot bear it
anymore.

You call me Yours
when I pull away,
feeling too broken
for Your gentle touch
to possibly piece me
together again,
too sinful for You
to want me as I am.

But still You call me,
still You remain—
with loving hands
You write my name
in white across
the reddened sky.
You call me
a child of God,
freed and forgiven,
with unspeakable love
I’m unable
to deny.

Enough

Source: http://herwords-unspoken.tumblr.com/

You’re worth more than the thoughts
you hold as chains upon your soul,
more than the
inadequacy
failure
sin
the insecurities
clinging to your footsteps,
dragging more weight through each day
without end.

You’re more than the doubt
choking good within your mind,
the anxiety
the questions
the worries drowning out the truth
where you find
that you,
you’re enough.
No amount of shame
no amount of wrong
can change that.

And when the days become darkened
and life becomes bleak,
when you try as bravely as you can
to push aside fear to reach where He is
but only distance you meet,
and when pain builds a mountain
obliterating hope
and all your mistakes are ticking away
like a bomb within your chest,
guilt a clamp around your throat—
know to the very depths
of your ever-beating heart that
He sees you,
He knows you,
and He loves you all the same.
To Him,
you’re enough,
you’ll always be enough.
Come,
bring your sin-stained garments,
bring your heavy-laden heart,
bring your empty hands.
It’s surrender He seeks,
not perfection,
for the cross is proof:
You are enough.

Enough for love,
enough for grace,
enough for forgiveness.
Jesus didn’t die for you to carry lies any longer,
and He didn’t suffer only to have sin win
but that redemption make us stronger.

You’re enough.

Oh, what a wonder to think
that we, though so unworthy,
are enough.

Motorist’s Prayer

stchristopher

Grant me a ready hand, a watchful eye,

That none may suffer hurt as I pass by.

Thou givest life — I pray no act of mine

May take away or mar that gift of thine.

Should those, dear Lord, who bear me company.

From fools and fire and all calamity.

Teach me to use my car for others’ need,

Nor miss through lack of wit or love of speed,

The beauty of Thy world —that this I may,

With joy and courtesy go on my way.

St. Christopher, holy patron of travelers,

protect us and lead us safely to our destinies.

Amen
